On June 2, within the framework of the Baku Energy Week, the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-U.S. Economic Dialogue was held. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the U.S. Department of State, the meeting was conducted in accordance with the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States of America.

The event, co-chaired by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs Caleb Orr, has been attended by representatives of government agencies, international financial institutions, and the private sectors of both countries.

Emphasizing the dynamic development of the Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov stated that the Charter on Strategic Partnership plays an important role in strengthening the economic cooperation. He noted that significant prospects exist for expanding trade relations, strengthening energy security, and developing supply chains for critical minerals through the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and the Middle Corridor, as well as exploring new investment opportunities in the areas of transport, logistics, and digital infrastructure. He added that a constructive dialogue on identifying joint projects, further strengthening business ties, and implementing mutually beneficial initiatives will contribute to bilateral cooperation.

Emphasizing their commitment to expanding bilateral opportunities in business, trade, and economic investments between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs Caleb Orr said that this direction is one of the main priorities of the Charter on Strategic Partnership signed in Baku this February by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized that the outcomes of the projects and initiatives to be discussed within the dialogue, as well as current opportunities for further strengthening bilateral economic relations, will boost the development of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the U.S.

As part of the First Economic Dialogue, panel sessions were held on regional connectivity, trade and transit, energy security, investments, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure.

The first session focused on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), the Middle Corridor, and expanding regional logistics capabilities. It highlighted Azerbaijan's favorable business environment for investors, alongside the new opportunities that Azerbaijan's growing connections with Europe and Central Asia create for U.S. companies.

In the session on energy security, participants reviewed cooperation opportunities for developing the Southern Gas Corridor, electrical interconnections, and increasing energy production. Discussions also covered the diversification of supply chains, specifically for critical minerals.

The panel on economic investments focused on promoting bilateral investments in transport, logistics, energy, and digital technologies to foster mutual prosperity. Special attention was given to encouraging U.S. investments in various sectors, including the Alat Free Economic Zone, which offers incentive mechanisms, privileges, and a favorable legal regime for investors.

During the discussions on AI and digital infrastructure, updates were shared regarding advanced U.S. technological solutions. The sides reviewed cooperation on data centers, the implementation of AI technologies, the development of regulatory frameworks, and future partnerships in this field.

Throughout the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation, promoting mutual investments, and supporting innovative projects. A meeting with business circles was also held to highlight the value of growing private-sector cooperation and building new partnerships.

At the conclusion of the event, it was announced that Baku will host the 2nd Global Artificial Intelligence Week later this year. In the presence of Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and Assistant Secretary Caleb Orr, the Protocol of the Dialogue and several documents were signed. These agreements focus on establishing digital infrastructure, technology transfer, and implementing efficient industrial solutions in Azerbaijan.
